Haiti Earthquake Response

In the wake of Haiti’s recent earthquake, the entire staff of Orphan Relief and Rescue is deeply grieved for the victims and their families. Haiti has long been on our hearts, and we believe that we are to play a part in the reconstruction of that nation.

Orphan Relief and Rescue will send an assessment team to Haiti as the first wave of relief dies down and longer-term reconstruction and empowerment programs are needed.

According to estimates, the earthquake likely doubled or even tripled the number of orphans in Haiti.

We will use our expertise in food and medical relief, construction, agriculture and micro-finance to serve the children of Haiti in the months and years to come. This will not affect our commitment to our ongoing programs in Liberia and Benin.

We will come alongside orphanage directors and other organizations in their efforts to heal, feed, and rebuild. We will hold to our mission to be a voice with action for orphans that no one else will help. And we will, as always, maximize our impact while minimizing our administrative overhead.

We ask you to join us right now in our efforts to establish longer-term means of security for the countless number of desperate orphans in Haiti: reliable food sources; secure and comfortable homes; safe drinking water; and above all, the immeasurable comfort of knowing God’s love.

Most importantly, join us in prayer for all the people of Haiti, but especially the children--that God would transform even such enormous devastation into new hope.
