child sponsorship program
Orphan Relief and Rescue currently has more than a hundred and twenty children in both Liberia and Benin, West Africa, on our Child Sponsorship Program. The kids are matched up with a sponsor who generously gives $35 a month. This money ensures that the child has daily food, consistent healthcare, an education and a variety of after-school mentoring and discipleship programs.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting down and talking with a pretty extraordinary boy. Trokon is fourteen and he is a true orphan, which means that both his parents are dead. As a result, he has lived most of his life in an orphanage. Orphan Relief and Rescue has been working with the orphanage where Trokon lives since 2007, and we have had the pleasure of watching him grow up to be a leader in his home. Trokon is an active participant in the Child Development Program, and he's also benefiting from our Child Sponsorship Program.
Over the past few weeks, we have had visitors in Liberia. Two of the visitors sponsor children through our Child Sponsorship Program (CSP). It has been exciting, heart-warming and a total blast to be able to surprise two children with a special visit from their sponsor! There have been huge hugs and non-stop giggling and the children have been so proud to hold their sponsors hand and show them their home, bed and belongings. I know that Henry and Massah will both remember the day they met their sponsor for a very long time!
On March 31, we realized that we were only 25 days away from celebrating Easter. We were also given an updated child sponsorship list, with 25 children at Danny Feeney still needing sponsors. That began a big push on Facebook to get 25 kids sponsored in 25 days. In just three days, we had almost ten children sponsored!
